Inside Line Promotions – ELDON, Mo. (Sept. 5, 2018) – The White Lightning Motorsports team made the most of a trip to Lake Ozark Speedway during Labor Day Weekend for a two-day Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com show.

Jamie Ball guided the team to a heat race win and a top-10 finish during the marquee event that featured more than 50 competitors.

Ball kicked off the weekend on Saturday by finishing second in a heat race after starting third. He then placed fifth in a qualifier to garner enough overall points to lock into the 15th starting position for the A Main.

“There was a stout field at the Lake Ozark Nationals, 51 cars in total,” he said. “We unloaded very fast from the first lap and felt competitive all night. We were able to be locked into the A Main, which is always our first goal.”

Unfortunately, a mechanical problem presented itself and ended the night early. Ball was credited with a 26th-place result.

“We started 15th and got one lap in before a red flag,” he said. “After the red flag my car wouldn't restart. We went to the work area and attempted to fix the issue, but didn't get out of the work area in time. Luckily, we did find an electrical problem shortly after getting pushed back to our pit area. It was disappointing as I felt we had a good car and another shot at a top 10.”

The event wrapped up on Sunday when Ball began the night on a high note by scoring his first Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race win after starting third. He then advanced from fifth to fourth place in a qualifier.

“After the issues we had on Night One we were ready to come back and show what we had for Night Two,” Ball said. “We were able to get our first heat win of the year, run decent in the qualifier and lock into the A Main again in the 11th starting position.”

Ball gained a spot to finish the 41-lap feature 10th, earning his 12th top-10 result of the season.

“This race was run in memory of Jason Johnson so we had a 41-lap A Main,” Ball said. “I got off to a terrible start and just didn't make good laps the first half of the race. We eventually got lapped by Sammy Swindell and once that happened I started mimicking Sammy's line and would go on to pass five or six cars and eventually break into the top 10. ASCS leaves lapped cars in line so the remaining half of the race we were able to be fast enough to run behind Sammy. I just need to be able to adapt quicker to keep from getting lapped. We had a very fast race car at the end of the race and it felt good to get another top 10 as the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour schedule winds down.”

Ball will race his 410ci winged sprint car this Friday at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., and Saturday at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill., with the MOWA Series.

“We are going to take the 410 out this weekend and get some more experience and track time in that as we continue to try and figure out what our plans are for 2019,” he said. “I have never ran a 410 anywhere besides Knoxville Raceway, which is a half-mile track, so these two quarter-mile tracks should be interesting and exciting. I’m looking forward to trying something new.”
