Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Oct. 6, 2015) – Jamie Ball ended his season on a positive note last weekend at I-80 Speedway.

Ball guided his White Lightning Motorsports sprint car to a fifth-place finish during the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints event at the high-banked track.

“To get a top five to end the year was a big deal,” he said. “We struggled a lot at the beginning of the year. We found something right before the 360 Knoxville Nationals and we’ve been really fast since then. To end the year with top-five and top-10 consistency gives everyone a boost of confidence and motivation to work hard for next year.”

Ball opened the event last Friday by winning a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. That made him the high-points driver on the fast track.

“The track was just really good and it was just really fast,” he said. “When I started out front it was easy. I hit my marks, stood on the gas and went fast.”

Ball then finished where he started – fifth – during a qualifier.

“There were three of us racing for third,” he said. “They were taking the top away and I had to run the bottom. We were all about the same speed so it was tough to pass.”

That lined Ball up on the outside of the fifth row for Saturday’s main event.

“I fell back a little at the start, but worked my way up to seventh or so,” he said. “We had three long red flags and a few yellows. I didn’t really get a whole lot of rhythm going. I got to racing with Seth Brahmer really hard for about 10 laps, which threw my rhythm off. I avoided a big crash and ran my race and we got up into the top five.”

Ball’s fifth-place result marked his eighth top five of the season.

“Overall it was a very good, consistent weekend,” he said. “It was nice to get a heat race win and end with a top five.”
